Garbage Disposal Repair & Installation in Iowa

A disposal that hums without turning is jammed, not dead, and that is usually a short visit. A disposal that leaks from the body is finished, because the housing has rusted through and there is nothing to seal. We can tell you which yours is over the phone most of the time.

Humming, jammed, leaking or dead. Freed and repaired where it is worth it, swapped where the motor has gone.

How a call with us goes

  1. Call and talk to a plumber

You get a person, not a queue. Describe what is happening and we will tell you whether it needs someone now or can wait until morning.

  2. Get an arrival window before you hang up

We tell you when a truck will be there and we call you if that changes. No four-hour windows and no silence.

  3. Agree the price before work starts

The job is quoted flat once we have seen it. You agree to that number first, and it does not move if the work runs long.

  4. Fixed, tested and cleaned up

We test what we repaired under real conditions, tidy the area, and tell you plainly what failed and what to keep an eye on.

What customers say about our garbage disposal repair work

★★★★★

Sewer camera before we finished the basement. Clean line, no work needed, and they said so. Plenty of places would have found something.

Rosalind K. · Des Moines, IA

★★★★★

Our water heater quit on a Saturday with a house full of family. They came out the same afternoon, found a failed element rather than telling us we needed a new tank, and we had hot water back by dinner.

Marcus T. · Cedar Rapids, IA

★★★★★

Garbage disposal was humming and I assumed it was dead. He freed the jam, hit the reset, and did not charge me for a new unit I did not need. Honest is the word.

Frequently asked questions

My disposal just hums - is it broken?

Usually not. Something is jammed against the impellers. Cut the power at the switch and the breaker, then use the hex key in the bottom of the unit to turn it by hand. If it frees up, hit the red reset button. If not, call (833) 435-9778.

How long does a garbage disposal last?

Eight to twelve years with normal use. Once the housing leaks it is done. If it is under eight years and simply jammed or tripped, repair is nearly always the better call.

Can you install a disposal where there is not one?

Yes, provided there is a switched outlet under the sink or we can arrange one. We handle the drain reconfiguration and the dishwasher connection as part of the install.

What should never go in a disposal?

Grease, coffee grounds, eggshells, fibrous vegetable skins and pasta or rice. Those are what we find in most of the Iowa kitchen lines we end up cabling.
